Chemical Management
Chemical management in the manufacturing process at UQUIFA Group
At UQUIFA Group, we understand that robust chemical management is essential to ensuring safety, compliance, and sustainability across all our operations. Consequently, chemical management in the manufacturing process at the Group represents a core pillar of our commitment to responsible production. To support this, we apply strict internal controls and follow international standards and regulations such as REACH and GMP, ensuring that every substance is handled with the highest levels of care and transparency.
Furthermore, we implement rigorous internal protocols and comply fully with global frameworks like REACH and GMP to guarantee responsible and safe chemical handling across all facilities.
Our chemical management strategy focuses on several key areas:
- Proper classification and labeling: We classify and label all chemicals in our facilities according to international regulations. As a result, we guarantee safe handling across our operations.
- Exposure control and minimization: We use advanced engineering controls and rigorous operating procedures to reduce exposure to hazardous substances—in particular, CMRs, endocrine disruptors, and PFAS.
- Employee training and awareness: We deliver ongoing training to our teams. This ensures that they understand and follow correct procedures when handling and managing hazardous materials.
- Hazardous waste management: We manage chemical waste in strict accordance with both local and international regulations. Therefore, we ensure safe and sustainable disposal practices.
- Regular risk assessments: We conduct frequent risk assessments to continuously identify areas for improvement and align with best practices in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Chemical Management Policy
CMRs & Endocrine Disruptors
Safe management of CMR substances and Endocrine Disruptors
At the Group, we actively manage CMR substances and endocrine disruptors following ICH guidelines to ensure their safe and responsible use in API manufacturing. Our facilities incorporate robust containment and engineering controls to minimize exposure, protect people, and maintain full regulatory compliance. Throughout the production process, we prioritize occupational safety and environmental responsibility, reinforcing our commitment to high standards in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Responsible use of PFAS compounds in API manufacturing
We use PFAS groups in the manufacturing of certain active pharmaceutical ingredients because of their unique properties. These structures enhance absorption, extend half-life, improve stability, and increase precision in therapeutic action.
Before introducing PFAS compounds into our facilities, we conduct thorough technical and toxicological evaluations to ensure safe handling and use. Although they play a critical role in the effectiveness of specific medicines, we remain fully committed to sustainability. We continuously seek ways to reduce PFAS use and explore safer, more environmentally responsible alternatives whenever possible.
PFAs - For ever chemicals
3TG – Conflict Minerals
UQUIFA Group’s Commitment to the exclusion of conflict minerals
We exclude minerals from conflict-affected areas—such as tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold (3TG)—from all our processes. We comply with international regulations and actively build an ethical, traceable, and responsible supply chain. This commitment reflects our core values of sustainability, transparency, and respect for human rights across all operations.
